The Collective Menu at CHISWICK Restaurant, 65 Ocean Street Woollara NSW 2025 (all photos by me, taken on my Nikon D60 with 30mm Sigma lens)
There are some wonderful things in my home town Sydney that I can never discover on my own, and I am so happy my friend Michael had a birthday and decided to celebrate it with such elegance and style. CHISWICK Restaurant, built within an amazing secret garden in Woollara, is one of the prettiest places I've been to. I was advised to dress up because the women there ate in their sun dresses, heels and with lipstick intact. Men wore tailored suits and crisp ironed shirts.
How very appropriate for the Collective Menu at CHISWICK - a 10 (plus more) course menu for the party. The entrées and appetisers were light and delicate but rich in flavour. Never have I had pickled miniature vegetables with rosemary flat bread presented so sweetly. There were times of surprise, like the Japanese influenced sashimi added to the menu in the midst of garden salads and risotto.
The mains came out, and I was impressed with the warm-hearted food being presented: Wood roasted Moran family lamb that fell off the bone, Moist roast Chicken that reminded me of my Mom's delicious home cooking and a delicate Prawn and Fish Tangine.
The topper though were the desserts, like the CHISWICK bombe Alaske, I admit I'm not much of a meringue fan and I didn't know what to expect when I carved my fork into it, but it was delicious - being soft and delicate and gooey.
The menu is at $75 per person and so worth it, the place is beautiful and overlooking a grande garden and fountain. When its clear skies and sun it's prefect to sit back with a glass of wine to enjoy a very long long long and leisurely Sunday lunch. And that's exactly what we did.
