I'm still trying to get out of Birthday mode these days- I turned 27 a couple of weeks ago and have been in a happy mood since. I spent the Friday of my long weekend taking my closest friends out to Korean BBQ where I devoured slices of red velvet chocolate cake with yummy rose petals sprinkled over the top. Then reliving out our childhood, we spent a couple of hours in Time Zone, a gaming arcade. I haven't stepped foot into an arcade for at least five years and with around $30 on each card we had, we played all the games. I played plenty of racing ones and air hockey with happy reminiscence.
After I popped my squishy ball (the only prize I managed to get from the arcade) we went to get some gelato to cheer me up. I had some sort of double chocolate chip chocolate flavour and it was delicious. Our friends started to bring up Eddie Murphy's comedic skit in 'Delirious' when he sings that infamous Ice Cream song. So many laughs that night.
Then we had some more drinks at a local bar, then in true Aussie spirit we went to have a late night feed at a local Macca's.
I went home happy and really grateful. The next morning however, I did wake up hung over. But I rushed back to the city because I had bought myself a ticket to The Lion King musical. Now I went by myself because I just wanted some 'me' time and for once in a blue moon, put my needs and wants before anyone elses. And it was absolutely worth it - cried when Mufasa died, at the opening scene and the when Rafiki performed her mourning song. Happy tears everywhere!
On Sunday I then went on a road trip with my closest work friends down to Stockton Beach for a 'Jeep Beach Day'. My friend owns a really beast Jeep so naturally he was invited and us and twenty+ Jeeps drove up sand dunes and along the water and ate on a cliff overlooking some Jeeps challenging themselves along the sand down below.
My real birthday was on the Monday and I was with my work friends when the clock ticked over and we were playing a new game we were addicted to, Ingress. I got to level 8 that night :)
I had a really fulfilled birthday and then a couple of weeks later one of my besties Reeni took me out to watch 'Strictly Ballroom' the musical, and she let me fulfill my Japanese Curry and Rice craving I had for weeks as a belated birthday treat. Betty is going to take me out for a belated birthday lunch and I can't wait for that as well.
I'm so grateful for all my friends and family in this life of mine so I thank them from the bottom of my heart for a wonderful birthday, and to Sammy Dress for providing me with the perfect skirt <3
