A Hike from Cape Solander to Botany Cove, NSW Australia. Photos taken by me and Hai with my Canon 70D DSLR. and 30mm lens.
This has got to be one of the most prettiest coastal walk I've ever done in Sydney.
Starting from the end of Cape Solander Drive, you immediately overlook a whale watching platform that has a view to die for - just light sandy cliffs that stretch out and an endless sea. Although the trail is not marked, you turn to the right and start following the cliffs heading towards south.
This coastal walk is considered a medium grade trail and takes about 3 hours for a return trip.
We followed the rock platforms hugging the cliff edges towards some sandy paths. Then I turned away from the edge and walked towards a deep traverse known as Tabbigai Gap.
Me, Lisa, Sang and Hai scrambled over some rocks to get to the ocean and it was well worth it. It was a good opportunity to spend a few good minutes taking in the sounds of the waves crashing and to appreciated the cool sea breeze on my face.
We reached some sand dunes at the top, and we trekked over it to reach the track again. After the second dune we could see the Cape Baily Lighthouse. We walked up the short sandy track to have some lunch at the foot of it . We prepared Japanese rice balls with tuna and salmon, some spicy and some plain.
We returned to the main path and followed the rock platforms towards Botany Cove and Cronulla Beach. We didn't reach the beach though - we were fascinated by some sort of photoshoot on the other side of the cliff.
Some poor lady walked a good ten minutes to get to us and tell us we were in the background of their shot. We had to move away quickly after that.
The walk back felt quick as the coastal breeze continued to cool us down. We rewarded ourselves with some frozen Mcdonalds' coke and chicken nuggets.
Sydney, you've done it again. Thank you for an amazing hike!
